Visiting Fellow Program

Program Overview

Lorner Research Center welcomes applications from researchers at all career stages.

Visiting Fellows typically stay for three (3) or six (6) month periods — shorter stays will be considered.

All fellowships are conducted remotely — no in-person or hybrid positions are available at this time.

There is no stipendiary or financial assistance available at this time.

Application

Applicants should submit the following via email (mail link at bottom of page):

  • A project proposal of no more than one page, including a brief motivation paragraph describing why affiliation with Lorner is sought and what the applicant expects to accomplish during the visiting period.
  • A current curriculum vitae (CV) or resume.
  • Junior researchers — those currently enrolled in a master's or doctoral program — must additionally confirm that affiliation with Lorner does not conflict with the rules or policies of their home institution.
Selection Criteria

Applications are evaluated on the following basis:

  • The quality of the proposed work and the applicant's broader research record.
  • The fit between the applicant's subject matter and competencies and those of current Center affiliates. The Center aims to foster productive intellectual exchange, and applications are assessed with this in mind.
  • The availability of space during the proposed visiting period. Where the Center is at capacity, applicants may be invited to consider an alternative period.
What to Expect

Visiting fellows can expect to engage actively with the Center's intellectual community during their affiliation. Expected activities may include participation in seminars and workshops, collaboration with staff and other affiliates, and presentation of work in progress
