Adriana Placani
Managing Director
Adriana steers strategic research initiatives, secures collaborations, and cultivates institutional partnerships at the Lorner Research Center. She is an Appointed Research Fellow at the Institute of Philosophy (IFILNOVA) at Nova University of Lisbon (Portugal). Her previous academic positions include Lecturer and Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Graz (Austria); Fellow of the Institute of Advanced Studies (IAS) in Nantes (France); Research Fellow at the Centre for Advanced Studies (CAS) in Sofia (Bulgaria); and Visiting Scholar at Columbia University Law School in New York (USA).
Adriana received her Ph.D. from Libera Università Internazionale degli Studi Sociali Guido Carli (LUISS). Her selected publications include the co‑edited volume Risk and Responsibility in Context (Routledge, 2023); “Superintelligent AI and Meaning in Life” (AI and Ethics, 2025); “The Morality of Risking and the Reliability of Rights” (Res Publica, 2025); “Anthropomorphism in AI: Hype and Fallacy” (AI and Ethics, 2024); and “When the Risk of Harm Harms” (Law and Philosophy, 2017).
